Accommodation consists of single, double and family rooms and is provided in an enlarged farm house, the main part of which dates back to 1889. Eighteen of the twenty-three rooms are en suite.
All our rooms have fireplaces and/or wall mounted heaters and each bed has an electrical blanket. There is a comfortable lounge and an attractive ladies bar, “The Deer and Pheasant”.
A large games room compliments lawns and gardens, which surround the tennis court, bowling green and trampoline. There is also a rustic swimming pool and for the more actively inclined, there are walks and mountain bike rides in the quiet crystal air of the sunny Karoo.
With Melton Wold as a base, the famous Namaqualand flowers and interest points of the diamond route can be visited.
Photographers and nature lovers can never exhaust the resources of the veld, with 210 different bird species to see. While geologists and paleontologists will see everything from a diamond mine, kimberlite and fossil remains, including a Bradysaurus fossil dating back to approximately two hundred and fifty million years ago.
Tranquil evenings can be spent at our outdoor boma. Well situated, not far from the guest house, the magnificent sunsets and galaxy of stars can really be appreciated, while your hosts Willem, Ronel and their staff provide a sumptuous feast around a huge log fire.Melton Wold also has its own post office. The buildings are not in use any more but are kept in good condition to remind us of the days gone by and how it use to be.
