Tsauchab River Camp is a small, well-organized tourism establishment with a warm atmosphere started, owned and managed by a young inspired Namibian couple with lots of energy and field knowledge to entertain their guests.
Johan & Nicky Steyn with their friendly team are directly involved with the guests who make every visit an unique experience to remember and worth returning to.The camp was inaugurated on 16 December 1999 on the farm Urikos no. 4 (previously a karakul farm) measuring 7127 hectares, surrounded by the majestic Tsaris, Naukluft and Roter Kamm mountains. The property is situated only 70km from the Sesriem Canyons and 40km from Naukluft Park. This farm with its rich historical past (dated back as early as 1911, when the first farm dwelling was already been erected) was a natural choice for the Steyn’s to develop the existing camp. Maybe the nature was the same reason why the two well-known German geologists Henno Martin and Herman Korn during the 1930s used this property for their base camp while they’ve done their geological research in the area.
The guest farm comprises out of 14 exclusive camping sites with private ablution blocks, two family chalets, three spacious double bed chalets, three twin bed chalets and one single chalet, restaurant, farm shop, tyre repair service and many activities such as hiking trails, 4×4 trails, game views, sundowners’ view points, mountain bike trails and much more. With the camp spread over a distance of 15km all along the Tsauchab River, we created a unique camp. Our guests can expect only the best service at all times. Our team will strive to create a homely touch and warm atmosphere. Should you need any further information for planning your itinerary, road direction or just more detail, feel free to contact us. You are invited to come and experience true hospitality and an untouched nature experience
